Anything goes – smart, sophisticated and classic. A musical that has charmed people for decades but personally, I do not feel like the 1930′s hit has aged well. As a first timer, I enjoyed the punchy dance numbers “Anything goes” and “Blow, Gabriel Blow” but could have done without the sheer number of quieter numbers that slowed the pace right down. However, the dazzling and clever set design that brings the 30s to a very small and modest stage was a nice touch. Reno, played by the amazing Debiie Kurup was consistently strong and a real treat to watch.
A little hard to get into, but a classic that has some real belters sprinkled in.
